Pakistan Team

Cricket World Cup 2011 and Preparations of Pakistan cricket team :- This is a fact that Pakistan cricket team is not fully prepared for the ICC World Cup going to be start on 19 February. The conditions of India are much similar to Pakistani conditions. In this regard Pakistani cricket team will not have to face much challenge. Pakistan is in group A where the green shirts will play matches against Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya. Australia. Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya are considered as week teams and Pakistan and it be not a challenge for Pakistan to defeat these teams. The real challenge for the Pakistani cricket team in the World Cup first round matches, e.g., league matches is to play matches against Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.
World cup history
: Pakistan won the world cup in 1992 under the inspirational leadership of Imran Khan but lost to Australia in the finals of 1999 world cup at Lords. It lost in the semi-finals at home in 1987 Reliance world cup and failed to reach even semi-finals at home in 1996 world cup.

Australia Team
Australia is the defending champions of the ICC World Cup and will look to make it count again. It has been four years since they had won that tournament last and the things have changed drastically. In fact, the life has come a huge circle, after they lost most of their players, but recovered to beat England in England, and India in India.
Australia’s all-round capability to be able to make the best out of any situation is their biggest strength. They do not depend on any one player in any way, and their ability to make comebacks from any position is the one stands them out of the crowd. This Time in World Cup 2011 Australian Position is not so better like Previous but some how they upset any team in World Cup2011. So its more important on their Australia Final Squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
World cup hisotry
: Australia won the Cricket world cup in 1987, 1999, 2003 & 2007 by defeating England, Pakistan, India & Sri Lanka respectively. Australia lost to Arjuna Ranatunga’s Sri Lankans in the finals of 1996 world cup at Lahore. No looking back since then. In sub-continent world cups, Australia won in 1987 (Reliance world cup) and lost in the finals in 1996 (Wills world cup).

South Africa Team

South African Cricket Board (CSA) has announced their final 15-man squad for the Cricket World Cup 2011 starting from 19th February 2011. South Africa has never progressed beyond the semi-finals of the World Cup despite their best performances.
The stunning surprise was the omission of the most experience wicket-keeper Mark Boucher and dashing All-rounder Albie Morkel from the final squad for the World Cup 2011.
South Africa is currently fighting to be the number one team in test cricket. They are playing against India at the moment and the series so far is the most thrilling cricket experience going around. Although the South African cricket team has all the potential to win the 2011 ICC World Cup but their unpredictable performance in the recent past has made their win claim a little dubious.
World cup history: South Africa caught the attention of cricket world with a series of outstanding performances (who can forget Jhonty Rhodes fielding?) in its first world cup (1991-92) but failed to replicate those heroics. But, they played crucial role in raising the fielding standards in International cricket.

England Team

England Cricket Board (ECB) revealed their final 15-men squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2011, starting 19th Feb. Andrew Strauss remains as the Captain for the World Cup 2011.
Spinner James Tredwell has been included in the squad along with experienced Graeme Swann and Micheal Yardy.
England, the current World T20 champions, certainly have a chance of adding the 50-over trophy to their cupboard. They were poor at the last World Cup, which was overshadowed by the tragic death of Pakistan's coach, Bob Woolmer. Australia were the eventual champions, their third title in a row.
World cup history:England was the most consistent performer at world cups until 1992. It lost to West Indies, Australia and Pakistan in the finals of 1979, 1987 & 1992 world cups respectively. Indian cricket fans may never forget the wonderful final match at Eden Gardens between Mike Gatting’s England and Allan Border’s Australia in Reliance World cup. But, England struggled in 1999, 2003 and 2007 world cups.

Board for Cricket Control in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) has announced their 15-men Squad for the Cricket World Cup 2011. Wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara has been named as the Captain for the World Cup 2011.
The huge surprise was the omission of most experience batsman Sanath Jayasuriya and bowler Chaminda Vaas.
The squad announcement process has begun and many teams have finalized their cricket team’s squad. Sri Lanka after including Chaminda Vaas and Jayasuriya surprisingly in their preliminary squad finally announced their 15-member squad, dropping both the players. Among the veteran players, Muttiah Murlitharan is included in the squad. So here is another chance for Murlitharan to show his magic and claim the second world cup trophy for Sri Lanka after 1996.

Dutch team and the Irish side may be not become so tough enemies of the Asian side but the difficult task is to defeat India, South Africa, England and West Indies. Bangladesh will start the journey towards World Cup by playing match against India on February 19 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Though it had been told that, world cup matches will also occur at Pakistan but, after terrorist attack in Pakistan, all the match fixtures in Pakistan is shifted to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Unlike 16 teams in other world cup before, only 14 team will be participating in World Cup 2011. 4 teams from each group will be placed in Quarter final. The team with most point of group A will face the team with fourth most team in group B, the team will second most point in group A will face with the team with third most point in the group B team and so on. The teams who won their quarter final fixtures will face in semifinal and winners of semifinal will face in final.
Cricket World Cup is a big event in itself, more than that it connects all the people in the world through cricket. My country could not have chance to play in this Cricket World Cup 2011 but, still I can't deny that, I will enjoy the cricket world cup due to its excitement. ODI cricket history has made a sufficient change in the cricket and I hope this Cricket World Cup would create the interest towards cricket in all part of the world.

FIFA World Cup 2010

FIFA World Cup 2010 Winners is Spain

Pride for Africa as Spain strike gold

Only 12 kilometres separate Spain from Africa at their closest point and they were united in celebration at the finish of a 19th FIFA World Cup™ that sent a fault line of happiness stretching all the way from Bloemfontein to Barcelona.
This was Africa's first FIFA World Cup and it will live in the memory as much for the spirit and smiles of the host nation as for the success of a Spain team who achieved their own first when Andres Iniesta's 116th-minute winner against the Netherlands put them into the record books as the eighth country to capture football's most prized crown.

FIFA World Cup 2010The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international football tournament. It is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the culmination of a qualification process that began in August 2007 and involved 204 of the 208 FIFA national teams. As such, it matches the 2008 Summer Olympics as the sports event with the most competing nations.

2010 stadiums: mission accomplished

After six years of sustained hard work and intense global scrutiny of their ability to deliver, South Africa's nine host cities have produced 10 World Cup stadiums – matching and exceeding international standards – which will soon be known to television viewers the world over.

World Cup 2010 stadium

Soccer City in Johannesburg

Soccer City (also know as the FNB Stadium) is earmarked to host both the opening and final matches of the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Built in 1987, Soccer City has played host to some of the most memorable matches in South Africa’s soccer history.

Moses Mabhida World Cup Stadium

In Durban, South Africa, the 70,000-seater Moses Mabhida Stadium by gmp architekten has an unique architectural feature inspired by the South African flag. With its grand arch design, the two legs of the arch on the southern side of the stadium come together to form a single footing on the northern side, symbolizing the new unity of a once-divided country. The 70,000-seater has been specifically designed as a multi-purpose venue not only meets FIFA requirements but can also host the Commonwealth Games or Olympic Games. The number will be reduced to 56,000, but can be temporarily increased to as many as 85,000 for major events.
The shape of the bowl results from the interaction of the circular roof structure with the triple-radius geometry of the arena.
